Dear Delegates,

I feel privileged to welcome you to VJTI Model United Nations: VJMUN XVII. It is my pleasure to serve as your Secretary-General for the conference’s twelfth edition. VJMUN XVII will be held on the 7th and 8th of January, 2017.

VJMUN started its journey way back in 2006 and is the oldest MUN held by any engineering college in Mumbai. Throughout its many years, VJMUN has always been known for its out of the box agendas, excellent quality of debates and our trademark VJMUN hospitality. For now the twelfth year in a row VJMUN has attracted a wide array of participants from different backgrounds and places. Together they have created a lasting platform for an exchange of ideas and mutual understanding.

This year, under the guidance of an extremely capable executive Board, we will simulate challenging, thought-provoking committees. We present to you two exciting committees with daring agendas. We’ll go back in time with the Historic Security Council (HSC) to discuss the Bangladesh war of independence. The committee is convened to discuss measures to be taken for de-escalating tensions in East Pakistan and providing an immediate solution to the large-scale humanitarian crisis in Bangladesh. In our futuristic committee, the Futuristic Security Council (FSC) we’ll discuss the Balochistan war of independence. And while all this is going on, the International Press, like a silent watchdog, would meticulously report and present the proceedings of the committees.

In addition to the vast, ever-expanding knowledge on explosive global affairs, VJMUN promises to challenge you with unexpected, unprecedented events, crises and agendas; thus, providing you with an opportunity to prove your mettle as true leaders of tomorrow.

Our organizing team is working very hard to create an incredible experience for all of you, and we cannot wait to show you what VJMUN-XVII has in store, as we hope it will exceed all your expectations.I assure the delegates an enriching two-day committee session and an experience worth a lifetime.

I look forward to meeting all of you at VJMUN-XVII!

Yours sincerely,
Harshit Kothari
Secretary General

About Us

What is VJMUN?

The VJTI Model United Nations or ‘VJ MUN’ organized by the Debate and Literary Arts Society (VJTI) completed 11 years in January 2016. In 2017, while in its twelfth iteration, we aim to innovate further and make the event more enjoyable and accessible to everyone. VJMUN presents an environment where delegates can debate and discuss innovative circumstances and unique events, the likes of which are rarely seen in MUN’s today. Through two days of fiery debate, delegates will hopefully come a little closer to figuring out their role in the world that surrounds them and develop as citizens of the world in a truly unique sense. VJMUN’s mission is to spread awareness of international issues and ignite the spirit of diplomacy among students through these UN simulations.

Who are we?

The VJTI Model United Nations (VJMUN) is the oldest and one of the most prestigious MUN's held by any engineering college in Mumbai. It is organized and conducted by the Debates and Literary Arts Society of VJTI, a student society whose secretariat comes from a diverse set of engineering streams and backgrounds. Each member of the secretariat shares a common interest in international relations and a motivation to make your experience a memorable one.

Why VJMUN?

Other MUNs need to make sales pitches because they need your monetary patronage. We don't. We pride ourselves on staging committees that are second-to-none in debate, and immaculate in organization. VJMUN also remains one of the few MUN’s that continue to host double delegation committees, where negotiation and debate can occur in tandem. We are committed to delivering an amazing delegate experience (refreshments are also on the house, in case you were wondering). Those who have been a part of the VJMUN experience do not need a second invitation to apply. Come, be a part of our legacy!
